Fans of dumplings, I have excellent news for you! Hampshire favourites Dumpling Dumpling have announced that they will be delivering frozen dumplings to the mainland, following a few weeks of hot & cold dumpling deliveries from their home on the Isle of Wight. After a successful trial run of mainland dumpling deliveries a couple of weeks ago (of which we ordered a delivery!), they will now be delivering to the Portsmouth & Southampton areas around twice a month. Very exciting news!
As their normal mainland venue Outside-In Food Court is temporarily closed until further notice, Dumpling Dumpling have adapted to the demands of our current situation and started delivering dumplings to Isle of Wight residents from their home in Cowes. If you are island based, you can order hot or cold dumpling deliveries via their website here.
However, if like me, you live near Portsmouth or Southampton and have been missing their dumplings – frozen dumplings can now be delivered to your door, all the way from the IOW! Currently the next scheduled mainland delivery is on 12th June, and they’re popular – so make sure you order yours promptly if you’d like some! Find out more about ordering dumpling deliveries here.
Dumpling Dumpling enthusiasts will already be aware of their fusion flavours which change regularly, and they’ve been cooking up some new flavours over the past few weeks. There are plenty of vegan and meat choices – in fact, there’s usually 4 vegan flavours on offer which is brilliant.

Here’s how the mainland deliveries work:
Head over to the website and order frozen dumplings for mainland delivery – there will be a separate option for this with the next delivery date attached. The dumplings are delivered as a pick & mix box of 12, and you can select your dumplings from the menu on the page. A box of dumplings is £12, with £2.50 delivery – we ordered two boxes this time around for the 12th June delivery, as you can keep them in the freezer for a rainy day!
On the delivery day, you will receive a text message with a 2 hour delivery window, so you know when to expect your dumplings. All deliveries are contact free and straight to your doorstep.
Your dumpling delivery will come with chopsticks and cooking instructions – they’re very easy to prepare and you can cook them straight from frozen. You will also be sent a dumpling flavour guide so that you can tell which is which – each dumpling flavour will be folded in a different way so that you can tell them apart.

For our order a couple of weeks ago, we ordered one box with the following flavours:
Hoisin Not Duck Dumpling (ve)
Chinese Pork Dumpling
Roast Chicken Dumpling
Chicken & Chorizo Dumpling
My personal favourite way to cook them at home is to pan fry the dumplings – it’s very easy to do and doesn’t require any special skills. Simply pour 2 tbsp of oil into your non-stick frying pan (a large pan, preferably), add in your frozen dumplings and fry them on a medium heat for 2-3 mins to brown the bottoms. Then lower the heat and add 75ml water (it will spit!) and cover – this will allow the dumplings to steam as well as fry. Cook the dumplings like this for 8 minutes (from frozen). Remove the lid, move the dumplings around until the water has evaporated and serve!

We served ours with a portion of egg fried rice alongside soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce & hoisin sauce for dipping. An excellent combination, and a pretty filling meal!

We loved all of the flavours – the Hoisin Not Duck & Chinese Pork dumplings are normally on the menu at Outside-In Food Court, so we’ve had these a few times before. The new Roast Chicken dumpling was so good – stuffed with stuffing & tender roasted chicken. The Chicken & Chorizo dumpling (pictured below) was really delicious too – spicy and seriously meaty.
The fusion flavours are always just as delicious as the classic Asian flavours, and I love how creative Dumpling Dumpling are when it comes to thinking of new, unusual flavours.

One of my favourite things about Dumpling Dumpling – aside from their delicious flavour combinations – is how generously filled each dumpling is. They are seriously filling! I say this because I’m aware you can buy pretty good frozen dumplings from the supermarkets – we’ve had a few dumplings from Itsu over the last few weeks, and they do taste good – but they’re just so small. If you’re in the delivery area for Dumpling Dumpling, I would really recommend placing an order and trying them for yourself!
You can order dumplings for mainland delivery to Portsmouth & Southampton here, and keep an eye on their Instagram and Facebook pages for further information on flavours and future mainland dumpling deliveries. Plus, when they’re back open at Outside-In Food Court (whenever that may be), make sure to visit Dumpling Dumpling there too!

I absolutely love dumplings, and all of these flavours sound delicious! It’s so great that you’ve been able to support a local business and have their food delivered to your door. I love that they come frozen too, so you can choose how many you’d like to eat and when. This is such a lovely idea, I need to look into whether anyone in Plymouth is doing similar.
