I have something extremely exciting to tell you about today! A couple of weeks ago I headed over to The Shed in Whitehill & Bordon for their opening day and it was incredible. We’re regularly in Bordon visiting family, so seeing a fantastic venue like The Shed open up is absolutely brilliant. A lot of the Whitehill & Bordon area is currently going through a much needed regeneration project, part of which involved a revamp of the Bordon & Oakhanger Sports Club which we visited in November last year. The Shed is the latest opening within the regeneration project, providing a shared space for local businesses to trade in.
The Shed is a vibrant new venue housing a range of independent local businesses – inside you’ll find food, drinks, arts & crafts and more new businesses joining soon! They also have a busy entertainment schedule for the coming months, alongside an event calendar for their outside space – which, on the opening weekend, hosted a market full of local business traders. There seems to always be something going on at The Shed!
You’ll find The Shed in Whitehill & Bordon next to the new leisure centre, just a couple of minutes away from the Tesco – there’s a huge amount of parking if you’re visiting by car! The Shed is open 7 days a week which is fantastic – making it the perfect place to stop by after work to unwind, or an ideal way place to visit on a leisurely Sunday morning.
It’s easy to spot The Shed as it’s absolutely enormous – and bright red! It was very busy on our visit (as it was both the opening day & a bank holiday) – but it’s a spacious venue, so I’d recommend visiting at any time!

Housed inside The Shed is a selection of local independent businesses – the current line up features:
- Siam Oishi
- Hermanos Tacos
- Fill Up
- Crane Patisserie
- The Mixing Jug
- Dylans Ice Cream
- Signal Studio
- The Crafty Shed
- Cycle Sphere
- Oak Tree and Acorn
Boigers did have a spot at The Shed, however they have sadly had to close their doors already as the space didn’t quite work for them – which is a shame! However, burger lovers need not be disappointed because the founders of Acorns Coffee & Cake have just announced a new venture for them which will be coming to The Shed soon – 350 Burger! I’m very keen to try one of their burgers once they open up.
I also spotted that one of the few empty units inside advertised a craft beer biz opening soon, which is very exciting – I’m looking forward to seeing which local businesses join the venue over the coming months!

The Shed was extremely busy on launch day, so we jumped in the nearest food queue to grab some lunch. I was a little disappointed when I realised my dreams of trying something from each food vendor were a little unrealistic given how busy it was – however, it just means I’ll have to visit regularly!
We opted for lunch from Siam Oishi, serving a range of Asian cuisines – which is right up our street! There’s a wide variety of hot & cold options available – sushi, curries, katsu, noodles and more. Everything was very tempting, so we ended up with a range of food to try!

We chose a couple of mixed salmon sharing platters (I’m not sure of the names!). The sushi was fantastic – freshly made, well sized & with good quality ingredients. There was a mixture of all our favourite sushi on the platters – salmon nigiri and salmon & avocado maki being two that we regularly order when we visit sushi restaurants!

We also ordered a portion of ebi katsu, prawn gyozas and chicken gyozas – we were a little surprised to find that the gyozas came chilled (we were expecting hot steamed or fried gyozas!), however they were tasty & still very good cold. The ebi katsu were also delicious – you can’t go wrong with crispy prawns!
You can never have enough sushi (a good motto to live by!), so we also ordered a portion of crunchy prawn maki – another classic that we always love, and the offering from Siam Oishi was freshly prepared for us & tasted great.
I was blown away by just how good value the sushi from Siam Oishi was – where I was expecting a bill of around £30 for our portion (excluding one of the salmon platters), our food only came to around £17! We’ll definitely be visiting regularly for sushi – great quality food & fantastic value for money.

Unable to resist the lure of colourful artisan chocolates, we stopped by Crane Patisserie for a box – once again, I was taken aback by how good value these were. Six decent sized handmade chocolates for less than £4? Yes please!
We managed to wait a few days before eating these – but they were incredible. I can’t tell you which was my favourite because they were all so good – but Tom loved the banoffee one!
Along the side of The Shed (near the leisure centre) is a huge grass area, perfect for picnics on sunny days. There is also a schedule of events at The Shed including live music, which I believe is played outside in front of the grass!
We would have grabbed an ice cream from Dylan’s and sat on the grass – however the queue was rather unappealing, so we’ll have to head back for a sweet treat.

At the front of The Shed is an area which hosts a range of markets throughout the week – the vendors do change, however the current schedule looks like the below!
- Saturday Market from 9.30am – 2pm with a range of local businesses (this is the one we visited!)
- Monthly Vegan Markets from 10.30am to 3.30pm on the first Sunday each month
- Wednesday Plant Market from 7am to 3pm
On our visit the Saturday market had a range of great local small businesses – including Hogmoor Distillery, whose gin I’ve been wanting to try for ages. (Yes, I did come home with their largest bottle!)
There’s also a regular local caffeine dealer trading at the market in the form of Acorns Coffee & Cake (who I mentioned earlier as they’re soon launching 350 Burger) – seriously good coffee & homemade bakes for the masses. I opted for an oat milk latte – which was very good. They do have iced drinks too!

As you can tell, we absolutely loved The Shed & I’m so happy to see something like this open up in Whitehill & Bordon – the area needed something fresh & exciting, and The Shed absolutely delivers. There’s plenty of exciting things in store at The Shed, so make sure you follow them on Instagram & Facebook for the latest updates!
I’m in the process of updating the events calendar here on my website (it went into early retirement last year due to everything going on!) – so keep an eye out for all of The Shed’s events which will soon appear on my What’s On page here!
Head over to The Shed’s website here – their opening times are below & the address is The Shed, Sergeants Yard, Bordon, GU35 0DJ.
