Reading is something that I’ve returned to with a passion over the last two years – it’s the perfect form of escapism and my favourite past time! So, when Nikki from The Bookish Mindset launched a brand new book subscription service this year – of course I had to give it a go! The Bookish Mindset was born in 2020, when Nikki started up an Instagram account to document her latest reads. It’s gone from strength to strength and has inspired so many people in the Portsmouth area to pick up a book, which is brilliant to see!
About Nikki (The Bookish Mindset) – Nikki has been a huge reader all of her life, mostly reading a range of fiction books until last year – her Instagram account was started as a place to connect with other bookworms and to discover new book recommendations. She has branched out over the past year (or two) with as much diverse reading as possible – so setting up a curated monthly book subscription box, containing the fantastic diverse reads she’s found, was a natural next step!
Each month, the book boxes from The Bookish Mindset have a different theme, and the months alternate between fiction and non-fiction – which is a great way to try out a selection of books that you might not normally choose! The books are supplied by local Portsmouth independent bookshop Pigeon Books (who opened last year – read my blog post about them here) and the boxes contain two items from local small businesses along with some tea.
Nikki’s ethos with The Bookish Mindset focusses on supporting & promoting local small businesses and supporting a diverse range of books & authors – two things that I’m absolutely on board with!
The Bookish Mindset offers a flexible range of purchase options – you can subscribe to the monthly box, purchase one-off boxes as a taster or buy block subscriptions. The monthly subscription is only £20, which is excellent value for a book subscription box!
I’m a big fan of Nikki’s Instagram account and the business she has started – if there was ever a time to get into reading, it’s now!
