UPDATE – Sadly Beach Box Café in Padstow is now closed.
Nautical decor, strong coffee, an ice cream parlour and colourful lattes – there’s something for everyone at Beach Box Cafe! Our recent trip to Padstow, Cornwall was in the height of tourist season, and finding Beach Box Cafe at the far end of the harbour was a breath of fresh air. You’ll find the Beach Box Cafe situated outside of the main tourist section of the harbour, next to the Rock ferry point. If you consider yourself less of a tourist and in need of a quiet haven to retreat to, this is the perfect spot.

Beach Box Cafe have a few branches open across Cornwall – you can find them in Polzeath, Wadebridge and Mawgan Porth. They started up with the aim to serve their customers food and drinks that are as locally sourced, fresh and wholesome as possible – and they seem to be achieving just that.

Inside you’re met with the most beautiful nautical decor – simple, neutral tones with hints of Baywatch and a relaxed atmosphere. The perfect inspiration for my dream coastal home!

We made a beeline straight for the rather inviting bay window table – with huge windows opening up onto the street outside. Offering up uninterrupted views over Padstow harbour, it’s the perfect place to sit down and watch the tourists and locals mingle. Perfect if you enjoy a bit of people watching!

Given the venue, I couldn’t resist ordering the most hipster of the drinks (much to the amusement of my company) and opted for a ‘Blue Magic’ Blue Spirulina Latte – with almond milk, of course! Just look how blue it is. As gimmicky as it may look, the latte did taste good – with a delicate hint of vanilla, and definitely no overpowering algae taste! If you’re a sucker for a colourful latte like me, they also offer yellow turmeric lattes, green matcha ones and a ‘Pink ‘ latte – so head over and get a taste of the rainbow!
Tom opted for a mango smoothie which was refreshing on the hot summer day and Dad went for a coffee, plus a scoop of homemade chocolate gelato. Their artisan gelato is made themselves with a touch of Cornish flair – and nothing beats a scoop of gelato by the seaside.

You can find out more about Beach Box Cafe here, and if you do visit the next time you’re in Cornwall – let me know!
