Camping at Tom’s Field, New Forest

As we are about to embark on another camping trip, it seemed only right to share our recent trip to the New Forest!

Back in June, we headed over to Fordingbridge in the New Forest to spend a weekend camping in our van. It was gloriously sunny and dry, and we were ready to spend two days doing absolutely nothing – other than relaxing of course!

Our campsite of choice was Tom’s Field – only open for a couple of months a year, with clean, basic facilities and a family atmosphere. We arrived on a Friday afternoon, set up our Sheltapod and enjoyed the sunset while we cooked dinner.

We sent the drone up to have a look at our set up – of course, why not? The campsite is set at the top of a hill, with views over the fields and valley below.

Seriously – look at that view!

I’d recommend visiting Tom’s Field if you have a chance – they aren’t open for long, but we had a really lovely stay. They’ve got a shop that visits every morning with food essentials and freshly baked pastries, and a food van visits every Saturday evening – serving up either Fish & Chips or Woodfired Pizza!

Now that the van is fully converted, we have started adding decorative elements – including strings of fairy lights and quirky storage in jam jars glued to the roof!

We spent the weekend cooking, exploring the campsite and relaxing – having some much needed downtime that seems awfully sparse these days! I’ll leave you now with a few photos of the beautiful sunset that I’m rather pleased with, if I do say so myself!

  2. I went camping in the New Forest a few weeks ago (link below if you’re interested). Haven’t been camping in years and it was so nice. We stayed at Hollands Wood in Brockenhurst, but I love the idea of the food vans!

When we were camping lots of people had converted vans, it definitely seems like the way to go. And great photos!
    🙂
