AD – This meal from Arepa 2GO was given in exchange for a review.
Street food has fast become one of my favourite things to eat – and Hampshire has plenty of fantastic street food vendors to choose from! One of my personal favourites is Arepa 2Go, currently located at Outside-In Food Court in Portsmouth. Arepa 2Go is a family run business, cooking up authentic Venezuelan flavours – the likes of which I haven’t seen anywhere else in the local area. Arepa 2Go is currently offering eat-in and click & collect services from their base at Outside-In – where they have been located since Outside-In opened in early 2019.
Arepa 2Go started trading back in 2015, bringing authentic flavours from Venezuela and using them in their homemade food. Their signature street food is arepas – gluten free corn pockets, freshly made and filled with a variety of ingredients. They have something for everyone, whether you’re vegan, gluten-free or in the mood for something a little different.
On this occasion we decided to try their click & collect service and ordered up an Venezuelan feast. There is plenty of parking near Outside-In Food Court, so collecting your order is no problem – the food was ready as soon as I arrived and was neatly packaged. We decided to have dinner by the water, which proved to be a rather relaxing evening!
You can order click & collect from Outside-In Food Court here.
I know you’re eager to see what’s inside the bags, so let’s get straight to the point!
Having eaten food from Arepa 2Go a few times, I’ve come to know what my favourite items on the menu are – so, being a creature of habit, I opted for my favourites! We chose an arepa each, a side to share and some churros for dessert.

First up are the arepas – large corn pockets stuffed with fresh, flavoursome ingredients. Arepas have fast become one of my favourite street food eats, and for good reason – they’re unique, great value for money and incredibly tasty. What’s not to love?
I opted for the Sifrina arepa – my personal favourite. Filled with shredded chicken, avocado, cheddar & homemade garlic sauce – this is absolutely incredible and I’d recommend it to anyone trying an arepa for the first time! The chicken & avocado are so fresh and I’m a big fan of the garlic sauce. I promise you’ll love it.
Tom chose the Cumaná arepa, one neither of us had tried before. Filled with slow cooked beef, black beans, feta & a spicy picante sauce, he really enjoyed this (and I enjoyed my bite!) – however it was definitely spicy, so it’s worth bearing that in mind!

There are also vegan & veggie friendly arepas on the menu, so you’ll find something for everyone. All of the flavours look delicious so we’re spoilt for choice! Each arepa is £8.95 and is very filling – perfect for a quick lunch if you’re in the area and excellent value.
I like to keep it real (and to make sure you’re under no illusion that eating photos are glamorous) so here’s an action shot of me digging into my arepa – you can see that they are quite a mouthful! There is no elegant way to eat these, so just embrace it.

Next up is our side, a portion of Pollo Frito with homemade honey mustard dip – this fried chicken is absolutely incredible and actually features on my Hampshire Food Guide to the best fried chicken!
Strips of crispy fried chicken, dunked in sweet honey mustard – this is a must-order for me personally and something you absolutely have to try. You won’t be disappointed! These come in at £5.95 and are perfect for two to share.
Who doesn’t love churros? Crispy fried rings of deliciousness dunked in a Dulce de Leche sauce – perfection. The portion from Arepa 2Go is just the right size for two to share and a great way to finish off your meal – if you have any room! These come in at £5.50 and are – of course – always a great choice.
All of our food from Arepa 2Go was incredible, as always, and I’m pleased to report that it all travels well too – our order was well packaged & was still warm after my 15 minute drive to the boat.
I’d absolutely recommend a visit to Arepa 2Go if you’re local or visiting Portsmouth for the day – I’ve been singing their praises since I first tried them last year, and I won’t be stopping anytime soon!
You can find Arepa 2Go at Outside-In Food Court for eat in or click & collect, and they are also on UberEats & Just Eat for home delivery. The next time you fancy a takeaway, why not try something different and order some authentic Venezuelan street food?
