Summer is finally here – and isn’t it just lovely? Earlier this week, I went along to the HarBAR at the new Southampton Harbour Hotel to celebrate summer on their outdoor terrace – and it was the perfect way to spend a warm summer evening. It was my first time visiting the hotel since it was built, and I was definitely not disappointed. HarBAR is on the 6th floor of the Harbour Hotel, with beautiful views over the marina and across Southampton water.
Their outdoor terrace, which is ideal for summer evenings, has its own bar and pizza oven, and unrivalled views over Southampton.

Upon our arrival, drinks were immediately served and I started off the evening with an elderflower cocktail – the joys of driving meant no gin for me! Their friendly staff and unbeatable hospitality made for a very enjoyable evening with a great bunch of ladies.

Speaking of ladies – this lovely lot were my company for the evening, as well as some other Southampton Bloggers. You’ll have seen me mention Bex before (find her blog here) and Alice Spake, who runs Southampton Bloggers (she’s over here). Amy Harwood was also there for the evening, and she is a fantastic illustrator. Make sure to check out her work here.

Keeping our drinks topped up throughout the evening were the folks from the Isle of Wight Distillery, with their excellent Mermaid Gin.

The HarBAR serves a range of dishes, ranging from seafood appetisers to wood-fired pizza and more, and we were treated to a selection of their finest food. Their seafood and meat platters were delicious – full of tempura prawns, grilled chicken and more prawns.

Next up were some veal meatballs, served in miniature saucepans.

Followed by what we had all been waiting for – the wood-fired pizza!

One was topped with salmon and dill – which was delicious and refreshingly different.

And the other was topped with prawns, clams and samphire. Again, beautifully different – but a wonderful coastal take on a classic dish like pizza.

Sunset on the rooftop terrace, paired with pizza and excellent gin (or mocktails) made this a truly special evening. If you’re local to Southampton and fancy a spot for dinner with a view, or if you’re after a spectacular place to stay, you simply must consider the Southampton Harbour Hotel.

*I was invited along to HarBAR at Southampton Harbour Hotel to experience their Terrace, but all views are my own. Thank you to Alice at Southampton Bloggers and Southampton Harbour Hotels for inviting me along – it was such a great evening!*
