Now that the sun is finally coming out of hiding and the warmer weather is almost here, it’s time for us to get back out in our campervan! So, I thought I’d give you a little update on all things campervan as it’s been a few months since our last trip.

If you’ve been here a little while, you’ll know that two years ago (I can’t believe it’s been that long!) Tom and I converted a Renault Trafic into our very own campervan. And when I say we, I really mean Tom! From ripping out the interior, adding insulation and wood panelling to decorating it with fairy lights and unique storage solutions, we’ve spent a couple of years fiddling around and gradually making it our own.
At the end of 2018 we decided that it was time to upgrade a few larger things inside the van, as we had discovered what did and didn’t quite work for us throughout our camping trips last year. The two things we decided to upgrade were the table and the bed, and the biggest upgrade was the installation of a new window in the sliding door – which has made such a big change to the interior of the van! We can now get some fresh air – and a little natural light – in the back of the van, which is perfect for the typical rainy British weekends where we can’t sit outside.
Tom also designed and built a brand new bed – from scratch – that fits perfectly in the back of the van, while also giving us a little more space to sleep in. Our previous bed was basically a single, so to have a new bed which is almost the size of a double feels rather luxurious! The bed slides out from a sofa to form a double bed, with handmade cushions carefully measured to fit the bed. As you can see, it’s much bigger than our last one!
We’ve got a few trips planned for 2019, starting off with Durdle Door and the New Forest towards the end of this month. I’m so excited to get back in the great outdoors, lighting campfires and cosying up inside our newly upgraded campervan.
If you’re interested in looking back on some of our campervan adventures last year, we visited Durdle Door, the New Forest and Cowes. We liked Durdle Door and the New Forest so much that we’re returning to the same campsites this year!
