This weekend I spent a day in Poole, exploring the Poole Harbour Boat Show and going on a harbour cruise with City Cruises Poole. As it happened, it was also my first time visiting Poole – and it was a fantastic day!
Our ride for the afternoon was this cute red boat, complete with a cafe downstairs serving some deliciously gooey chocolate muffins.
You can find the lovely folk at City Cruises Poole at their stand on the Quay, next to where all the pubs are (convenient for when you return from your cruise!).
The cruise around Poole Harbour was a great chance to catch up with the lovely lot from Bournemouth Bloggers, while taking in the beautiful views. Poole Harbour was so different to the views that I’m used to of Portsmouth Harbour and Southampton Water, with so many beaches, islands and still water. The perfect place to take a relaxing tour!
The harbour tour with City Cruises Poole lasts for about 1 hour 10 minutes, starting from Poole Quay and going around Brownsea Island, past Brownsea Castle, Sandbanks and the rest of the smaller islands.
Having never been to Poole before, I had never been to Sandbanks either – but I’ve heard a lot about the beaches and restaurants there so I was excited to see it from the water! Full of luxurious beach-front houses, Sandbanks looks beautiful and I’m looking forward to hopefully visiting there soon.
We even had a good view of The Needles on our tour! (Very far away as you can see…)
I had a really great time out on the water with City Cruises Poole – it’s common knowledge that I love going boating, so this was an afternoon out that ticked all the boxes for me! Poole Harbour is incredibly beautiful, as well as Poole itself, so I would highly recommend booking yourself a harbour tour if you find yourself in the area – or even if you aren’t nearby, book one anyway! You can find out more information about the harbour tour here.
